How can I tackle slugs organically?

Ideally, we here at St Albans Garden Design like to aim for an organic approach to all our gardening methods. A small pond – or even just a shallow terra cotta dish – should, over time, attract toads and/or frogs – nature`s slug killers !

Frogs and toads drink and keep cool through having their skin immersed in water so provide a small (non running) water source with a little shelter such a an upturned pot and make sure the reptiles or indeed, any other wildlife, can easily get in and out of the water. A ramp or slope of some kind will do the trick. An oxygenating plant in the water will help keep it clear and then plant insect attracting plants nearby as a food source for the froggies !
